Beyond Pain Relief: Does Low-Level Laser Therapy Outperform Occlusal Splints in Restoring Masticatory Function in Children with Bruxism?

Pedodontics

This randomized controlled trial compared low-level laser therapy (LLLT) and occlusal splints for managing sleep bruxism in 30 children aged 6–12 years. LLLT significantly improved bite force, while both treatments reduced pain and achieved high parental and child satisfaction. LLLT showed additional potential to restore biting function, approaching bite force levels observed in bruxism-free children, supporting its use as a non-invasive treatment option.
