Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly redefining modern dentistry, transforming diagnosis, treatment planning, digital workflows, and patient care. From radiographic interpretation and predictive analytics to automated treatment support, AI offers unprecedented opportunities to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and personalized care. However, alongside these advances emerge important ethical and legal questions that challenge the foundations of professional dental practice.  

This presentation explores the ethical challenges accompanying the transition from digital dentistry to the AI era. It also examines the growing dilemma of clinical responsibility when AI recommendations conflict with professional judgment, with reference to current laws, regulations, and emerging international ethical frameworks governing AI in healthcare and dentistry.
