Successfully treating a patient with Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD) can be highly rewarding, particularly when it leads to reduced facial pain and improved jaw function. However, it can also be frustrating for both the patient and clinician if the treatment yields little to no improvement or, worse, exacerbates symptoms and functional issues.

Therefore, understanding the complexities that contribute to treatment failure is crucial. This understanding should guide clinicians in making informed decisions before initiating TMD interventions, ensuring a comprehensive and patient-centered approach.
