All-tissue dental lasers have become an essential tool in modern oral surgery and implantology, enabling minimally invasive, biologically driven, and highly predictable treatment approaches. This lecture provides a focused, evidence-based overview of laser-assisted oral surgical and implant procedures using all-tissue laser systems, with emphasis on the Er,Cr:YSGG (2780 nm).
The session will review fundamental laser–tissue interaction principles in soft tissue, hard tissue, and bone, and translate these principles into clinically applicable protocols. Key applications include atraumatic tooth extraction, laser-assisted immediate implant placement, peri implant soft-tissue management, hard-tissue contouring, surgical site decontamination, and photobiomodulation-enhanced healing.
Clinical workflows will be discussed to demonstrate how laser technology can improve surgical precision, haemostasis, patient comfort, and postoperative recovery while reducing inflammation and morbidity. Case-based examples will illustrate how lasers can be seamlessly integrated into routine implant and surgical practice.
This lecture is designed to bridge the gap between laser science and everyday clinical application, providing clinicians with practical knowledge to safely incorporate all-tissue laser protocols into oral surgery and implant dentistry for enhanced clinical outcomes.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Explain basic laser–tissue interactions relevant to soft and hard tissue surgery.
- Identify clinical indications for laser-assisted oral surgery and implant placement.
- Select appropriate wavelengths and parameters for common surgical and implant procedures.
- Integrate all-tissue laser protocols into implant workflows to improve healing and predictability.
